ABOUT ANNE

Artist Biography:

Anne Gaupen Berg (b. 1990) has a background in graphic design and psychology, and works abstractly with charcoal and acrylic, often using contrasting colors and techniques that balance control and chance. She is inspired by artists such as Jan Groth, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Helen Frankenthaler, and is strongly influenced by music. Berg is currently studying art and expressive therapy at NIKUT in Oslo. For her, art is both a therapeutic space and an exploration of emotions and experiences. She has exhibited nationally and internationally.

ABOUT

THE WORK

My paintings are mainly named after different pieces of music.

Berg’s paintings invite the viewer to see with a child’s eyes—to experience something for the first time, without a set answer. The abstract forms, often bodily or natural, express feelings and experiences, and leave room for open interpretation. Her work is about giving emotions a place in the world, opening up for wonder, reflection, and play
